San Diego is elite when it comes to Mexican food. there is no one place north of the border that can top the Mexican food San Diego serves, and Valerio's is a prime example of top notch Mexican food in San Diego. known as "The Barn," Valerio's makes a plate of carne asada fries so delicious and tasty it feels almost sinful to finish the masterpiece.
I ordered carne asada fries from here & made sure there was fries, cheese, carne asada, pico, guacamole, and sour cream on it. what I got was a thick, full, and monstrous plate of fries that were sooooooooo beautiful. it's definitely one of the more fulfilling meals as it comes served in such a large portion. I loved every part of it, even though I could only eat about 1/3 of the plate.
the location of Valerio's is easy to locate and it's next to a liquor store. it's a classic El Cajon taco shop. the building is shaped like a barn, hence the nickname The Barn, and it's a delightful setting. I will most definitely be making this one of my go to taco shops! -

Been here many times off and for about 7 years. I haven't been here in awhile but because it was super convenient, I decided to go thru the drive thru. The girl at the window was very rude and couldn't understood my request to have my tacos soft instead of it being fried. How hard is it to grill the tortillas instead of frying it. Also the cheese on and in my cheese enchiladas was be melted. Gross!!
Spent $30 and feel like I've been robbed. I would recommend this place ONLY if you want to get over overcharged crap quality food, and poor customer service. Even though I live within blocks from here, I will drive further to avoid this place. There are too many Mexican places to choose from!
If this girl at the window wants to pursue a career in custom service, I Hope attitude changes and go back to customer service school to gain the skills to be successful in her job. -

Valerio's made me a pretty good chorizo, eggs, and cheese breakfast burrito, but they did over cook and slightly burn the chorizo.
Te burrito was of good size and quite filling. I did not eat anything until the late afternoon. The eggs were good and the cheese was great. I asked for the Mexican white cheese over the typical yellow grated cheese and they obliged but charged me an extra fee without telling me ahead of time. Anyways, the cheese was great, the burrito would of been much better without those burnt pieces here and there.
There is no inside seating at this place which is a drag, but they do have a few tables outside, that could use some cleaning, and a drive thru. While I was there, the drive thru seemed to be the popular choice.
